The Mechatronics Institute has been designed to support the fast design/development and certification of original Mechatronics products, the education/training in the sector of Mechatronics technology (placing emphasis on the non-traditional applications), to provide services in the related to Mechatronics local industry, to do research and provide services in innovative applications, and the infiltration in new sources of European funding.
Specifically, the initial research activities of IMTRONICS cover the following scientific and technological areas:
L1: Mechatronics and Biomechatronics
L2: Microelectronics and Embedded Systems
L3: Telecommunications and Networks
L4: Micromechanics, Materials and Nanostructures
L5: Information Systems and Services
During the period 2007-2009, the research activities were focused on the following five initiatives and corresponding Research Teams:
- Micromechanics, Materials and Nanostructures
- ICT Systems, Services and Applications
- Telecommunication and Computer Networks
- Traceability Center of Thessaly
- Microelectronics and Embedded/Wearable Systems
