Field: The laboratory aims at the research and development of architectures, protocols and models in the field of telecommunications and networks. More specifically, the activities of the laboratory focus on the management of resources and the study of traffic in wired and wireless networks as well as on the study of network performance and mechanisms used in them. In the area of wired networks the laboratory research focuses on routing configurations, congestion control and mechanisms for the provision of quality services. In wireless networks, the research focuses on energy control and spectral distribution mechanisms for the efficient management of wireless resources, on the provision of quality services in management configurations of directional antennae, on mechanisms of encryption and safety, as well as on new cross-layer methods that aim in the maximization of network effectiveness.
